How can I transfer my domain name?
If you want to transfer a domain name, first of all you have to do two things on the management console of your current registrar. Firstly, you will need to obtain an AuthCode of the domain name to get the transfer going, and secondly, you will need to make sure that your current registrar has not locked the domain name transfer (through the clientTransferProhibited status).
If you prefer, you can write to your registrar and they will undertake to unlock the domain name transfer and provide an AuthCode.
Once you have done these two things, go to the website of the registrar you want to transfer the domain name. If you are unsure which registrar you want to transfer to, on our price table you can check out the registrars that work with us. Once you are on the registrar’s website, if you can’t see the domain name transfer option, the easiest thing is to try to register the domain name you want to transfer. You will of course be informed that the domain name has already been registered, but you will be offered the option of transferring the domain name to the registrar.
When you request the transfer, you will be asked to provide the AuthCode. Together with that, a message will be sent to the mail box of the administrative contact of the domain name requesting the confirmation of the transfer. You have 5 days to make that confirmation, otherwise the transfer will be cancelled. If you don’t know what that e-mail address is, you can look on the console of your current registrar. Once the transfer has been confirmed, the domain name will be transferred to the new registrar within a maximum of five days.
When the transfer has been completed, the domain name will go on functioning as usual; the transfer will not in any way affect the functioning of the website or e-mail.
