The competition Kaixomundua.eus has announced this year’s winners
- The awarded websites have been two from Beasain Ikastola, the website errekakirolelkartea.eus from the IES Lekaroz BHI institute, and the website kaonbi.eus from the Mondragon Superior Polytechnic School.
- The aim of the award is to promote the knowledge of digital skills and the creation of digital content in Basque through the development of websites.
- In total, 54 schools from the Basque Country have participated, the highest number to date.
In Bilbao, from the EITB headquarters, today the winners of the fifth edition of the competition Kaixomudua.eus organized by PUNTUEUS have been announced. It is a project aimed at the school community with the objective of promoting the knowledge of digital skills and the creation of digital content in Basque, by learning how to create web pages.
A total of 1,334 students from 54 schools in the Basque Country have participated, divided into 402 groups, making it the most successful edition to date,” explained Josu Waliño, CEO of PUNTUEUS. The projects have been divided into four different categories: the first has been composed by students from 1st and 2nd of Compulsory Secondary Education; the second, students from 3rd and 4th of Compulsory Secondary Education; the third, students from high school; while the last prize has been for students from vocational training.
In the category of the first cycle of Compulsory Secondary Education, Beasain Ikastola has emerged as the winner. The 2nd-year Compulsory Secondary Education students have received the award from Josu Waliño. They have developed the website psikologikoki.eus with the aim of providing information about mental health.
Beasain Ikastola has also won the award for the second cycle of Compulsory Secondary Education. The students have created the website digema.eus with the aim of analyzing and highlighting the impact that women have had and continue to have on digitalization. They have received the award from Vanesa Fernández, Director of Culture and Basque Language at EITB MEDIA.
Students from IES Lekaroz BHI have won the award for high school. They have developed the website for the Erreka Sports Club in Doneztebe. In this edition, in the high school category, in addition to the winner, the website zukutu.eus has received the special mention award from the jury. “The students of Ikasbidea Ikastola have developed a very dynamic and attractive website,” explains Nagore Ruiz de Escudero, a member of the jury of the competition Kaixomundua.eus, after presenting the award to the students.
In the vocational training category, the website kaonbi.eus from the Mondragon Superior Polytechnic School has been awarded by Amaia Abanda, winner of the Gladys Award.
Throughout the course, students have created a real website, transitioning from being digital consumers to digital creators. On the other hand, reinforcing the training of teachers who need technological skills is another objective of this initiative.
The award ceremony has been broadcasted on the website eitb.eus and on the EITB YouTube channel, allowing all guests to follow it online.
Leire Martínez has hosted the event, which has been attended by, among others, Josu Waliño, CEO of PUNTUEUS, Amaia Abanda, winner of the third edition of the Gladys Award, Nagore Ruiz de Escudero, a member of the jury of the competition Kaixomundua.eus, and Vanesa Fernández, Director of Culture and Basque Language at EITB MEDIA.
