According to this research, <strong>56%<\/strong> of these entities currently have their own website (approximately <strong>77,000<\/strong>). In this context, awareness of the <strong>.eus<\/strong> domain is very high: <strong>78%<\/strong> are familiar with it, and <strong>59%<\/strong> consider its existence <strong>necessary or very necessary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MARKET PERCEPTION: IDENTITY AND TRUST<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The study highlights that the .eus domain is strongly associated with Basque identity (51%), the Basque language (9%), and public institutions (4%). On a scale of 10 points, organizations rate it highly as a symbol of identity (8 points), for its commitment to the community (7.6), and for the trust it conveys (7.3). Regarding the reasons for choosing a domain, the main factors are the identity of the target audience (19%) and recommendations (16%). In the case of .eus, the choice is usually more deliberate than with other domains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The registration experience is another strong point: the satisfaction index reaches 82%, well above the industry average (70%). In addition, customer loyalty is remarkable; the Net Promoter Score (NPS), which measures the likelihood of customers recommending the service, classifies 49% of users as \u201cpromoters.\u201d Looking ahead to next year, around 25,000 organizations intend to register a new domain, of which 5,400 say they will choose .eus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">THE BASQUE LANGUAGE ON THE BASQUE INTERNET<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, the 2025 PUNTUEUS Observatory analysis provides the most accurate snapshot to date thanks to improvements in measurement methodology. In fact, collaboration with The Bright Initiative, driven by Bright Data, made it possible to analyze thousands of websites that had previously been undetectable, revealing that 20% of active websites in the Basque Country contain content in Basque. This figure, higher than the previously estimated 15%, reflects the technical ability to uncover content that had previously remained hidden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A positive sign is the slight increase (0.6%) in the number of users who configure their browsers in Basque, a key digital indicator that directly influences the supply of online content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once again, the results confirm that the choice of domain determines language use. The .EUS domain is the main stronghold of the Basque language on the internet, as 74% of its websites use Basque. By contrast, in generic domains such as .COM or .ES, the use of Basque is much lower (15.3% and 9.8%, respectively).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">EVOLUTION OF THE .EUS DOMAIN<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The .EUS domain continues on a path of solid growth, closing 2025 with 16,393 registered domain names. This growth rate of 4.6% is almost four times higher than the global average for major top-level domains (gTLDs), which stands at 1.2%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, .eus stands out for the loyalty of its community: nearly 9 out of 10 users renew their domain annually, compared to the 7 out of 10 typically seen with generic domains. Although companies are the main users, the domain is widely adopted across all sectors: associations, public institutions, education, and Basque-language projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Geographically, although Gipuzkoa (40.3%) and Bizkaia (32.3%) lead in registrations, the presence in \u00c1lava, Navarre, and the Northern Basque Country remains significant, helping to shape the digital identity of the entire territory.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PUNTUEUS has presented a comprehensive analysis of the .eus domain and the state of the Basque internet, based on two complementary studies: a market perception study conducted by CIES and the annual report from the PUNTUEUS Observatory.
