THE BASQUE EMAIL SERVICE NI.EUS BECOMES A VIRTUAL OFFICE

-With Nextcloud technology as its central axis, the new version incorporates video calls, office applications, and cloud storage.

The NI.EUS email service has just taken a qualitative and quantitative leap. It has gone from being a mere email service to becoming a complete set of tools for personal and professional communication. The project, the result of the collaboration between PuntuEUS and Iametza, has the support of the Azkue Foundation (Azkue Fundazioa) and is a pioneer in the Basque digital ecosystem, marking an important milestone in the normalization of the Basque language and digital sovereignty.

NEW FUNCTIONALITIES

The renewed version is based on the Nextcloud open-source cloud platform. Thanks to this integration, email has adapted to current work needs, acquiring the functionalities of a “virtual office”: Until now, NI.EUS offered a calendar and contact agenda. Among the new functionalities are file management (storing, editing, and sharing documents), online office applications, forms, and notification systems, among others. Likewise, for the first time, real-time communication functionalities have been integrated, such as chat and private video calls, expanding the collaboration options between users, groups, and organizations. 

The objective of these improvements is to facilitate access to collaborative digital tools for small organizations, associations, and groups. By using open-source software, ni.eus guarantees that user information will not be used for commercial purposes, and takes a firm step on the path toward technological sovereignty.

PLANS FOR DIFFERENT USERS AND NEEDS

A esto se le han añadido planes avanzados con funcionalidades adicionales y la opción de utilizar un dominio propio. Además, se ha añadido una tercera modalidad para equipos pensada para organizaciones pequeñas, familias o comunidades, que incluye herramientas de chat y videollamada. The renewal has also brought new account modalities. The option to continue using the service for free is maintained. To this, advanced plans have been added with additional functionalities and the option to use a custom domain. In addition, a third modality for teams has been added, designed for small organizations, families, or communities, which includes chat and video call tools.
